Blog posting for Module 6

Blog posting for Module 6

One new thing I learned in this module is the heavy emphasis that AHRQ has placed on Information Technology. They obviously see it as a great resource for improving the quality of healthcare. They have invested over $300 million dollars in the effort. Another thing I learned is the alternate side of plagiarism as noted in the NPR podcast. There was great substance in the way the issue was presented in the program. I learned that plagiarism is a culturally-related term. I had never thought of it as culture-bound before.

The readings influenced my perception of my own clinical decision-making. They helped me to see that I must trust myself less and seek counsel from professional in my own sub-specialty before making decisions with great impact on my clients. The article by Tversky and Kahneman particularly impressed me in regards to systematic errors that I make unintentionally.

Module 4 Assignment

  1. What sort of teaching is done in your professional role? Mostly nurse-to-patient teaching or nurse-to-parent. I am surprised how much teaching is accomplished from nurse-to-nurse and doctor-to-nurse. I also am surprised how much teaching happens through nurse-to-other coworker education.
  2. Is there any nursing/health care provider role that does not involve teaching in some manner? - Not to my knowledge.
  3. Link to the mobile device wiki created for N6004 and available for your contribution http://editthis.info/nurs_6004_mobile_devices/Main_Page
